2020 – Travel where?

Its July … I have not truly posted because I have not truly traveled. Only a few domestic travel plans, but even those were canceled due to the pandemic caused by novel coronavirus (Covid-19)! In January I journal my goals- 2020 mantra is/was “Go big or go home!”… The universe had other plans- Covid- 19 told most middle class professionals to stay home.

In my home state of Maryland, social distancing orders would begin forcing mandatory shut downs is large social gathering (more than 10 people) in person businesses besides grocery stores, liquor stores, pharmacies, and restaurants for carry out. Remote work was the new thing for most of us. The shutdown started mid-March and begin opening in phases in late May. However, the numbers have begun to rise and the reopening delayed.

Then in late May, America faced back-to-back issues of racisms towards black people. One of which, resulted in the death of an unarmed black man, George Floyd. This incident captured on video showed a knee on Floyd’s neck by a Minneapolis police officer as he screamed “ I can’t breathe”!

This sparked a worldwide protest. The other incident of racism occurred in Central Park. A white lady threatened and lied on a black man,who was bird watching, because he told her to put her dog on a leash. These were just the incidents in May that made the headline… but these incidents are STILL very common. However, I’ll save that for another blog! ✊🏾

“No Justice, No Peace”

For me, the first half of 2020 felt like a whirlwind but provided extra time I did not know I needed – to reflect, catch up with loved ones virtually, build on my plans and love myself more (which entails more than A Lot). What does “going big” mean to me? It means, if I agree to do something, truly put my time and effort into it… no half stepping OR say no because I don’t have the time or it takes too much away from me! #boundaries
